Greed losses all (2013)

To commemorate the inaugural World Toilet Day on 19th November 2013, Brazilian artist Guto Bussab installed 9 golden toilets at Camps Bay, to take the plight of millions of South Africans who don’t have access to flush toilets or sanitation to one of the city’s most affluent suburbs. Not everyone appreciated the move. Bussab was slapped with a R500 fine for ‘trading without a licence’, but managed to convince the officers to leave the installation intact. Titled GREED LOSES ALL, each of the toilets represents a province.”While politicians continue to score points by talking about sanitation, little has changed in the conditions for millions of people who do not have access to flush toilets,” Bussab said.
